Since September, I have a few new roommates, who will be modeling for me sometimes. That are two pieces iredalei’s Achatina.
Achatina iredalei is an African snail, whose shell can be up to 8 cm long. The pair, Dotti and Fussel, inhabiting a terrarium in my study.
I had kept in my high school days such snails as pets and now I’ve discovered them again. I like this kind of snail particularly because of their bright house and Apex color that comes in a bright yellow for both.
Right now they have a size of about 5cm. Unfortunately, the low temperatures do not allow shipment of the animals at the moment.
But this coming Saturday, four baby-snails will join. This will be some Achatina reticulata albino, to be precise, body albinos, so with very bright, almost white Apex.
The terrarium is already set up for the new and waiting move in.
I have built it from an old aquarium, which I have separated in the middle to make a 2in1. The small snails will occupy the right terrarium, until they are to big for it, because this snail may reach up to 20cm long house, cause it´s the second largest snail in the world. And so they look right now:
Respectively they must be out by April, because I get my Achatina White Jade and Fullabinos then and they will move in separated to these two terrariums.
